Two days is the right amount of time for Jaipur. This Jaipur 2-day itinerary gives day one to the forts and the old city, and day two to experiences: elephants, wildlife and the city lights after dark.
If you only have one day, see our Jaipur in one day plan. With two days, you can slow down and enjoy the things a rushed visit misses.
Your 2 Days at a Glance
- Day 1, heritage: Amber Fort, a camel ride by Jal Mahal, the old city and a night jeep safari.
- Day 2, experiences: a morning safari, a few hours with elephants, the bazaars and a sunset view.
Day 1 Morning: Amber Fort
Start early at Amber Fort, before the heat and the crowds. Arrive the classic way on an elephant, or take a jeep or walk up. The elephant ride runs only in the morning and costs ₹2,500 per elephant.
Not sure which way to go up? Read elephant ride or jeep to Amber Fort. Leave time for the stepwell and the old lanes of Amer below the fort.
Day 1 Midday: Jal Mahal and a Camel Ride
On the way back to the city, stop at Jal Mahal, the palace in the lake. Camel rides at the Jal Mahal view point run from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, so it fits easily into your day.
Then have lunch in the old city and rest for an hour in the warmer months.
Day 1 Afternoon: The Old City
Spend the afternoon at City Palace and Jantar Mantar, then see the pink facade of Hawa Mahal. Check opening times and tickets on the official Rajasthan Tourism website before you go.
Day 1 Night: Night Jeep Safari
After dinner, see Jaipur from above. Our night jeep safari starts after 8:00 PM and lasts about 2 to 3 hours, climbing to hilltop fort viewpoints over the city lights.

Day 2 Early Morning: Choose Your Safari
Leopards: a morning drive in Jhalana, right inside the city. Read our Jhalana leopard safari guide for zones and timings.
Villages: or join our village jeep safari, which starts at 8:00 AM, for rural lanes, temples and hill views.
Day 2 Late Morning: Time With the Elephants
Spend 2 to 4 hours at our sanctuary, 10 to 15 km from the city centre and open every day from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Feeding, painting, walking and a 30 to 35 minute elephant safari are included.
Bathing runs from March to October. The full experience costs ₹2,500 to ₹5,500 per person, and children aged 2 and above are welcome. See our elephant sanctuary in Jaipur page.
Day 2 Afternoon and Evening: Bazaars and Sunset
Browse the old city bazaars for textiles, block prints, jewellery and blue pottery. Then head up to a hilltop viewpoint for sunset over the Pink City.
If you still have energy, end with a rooftop dinner in the old city.
